The Self-Build Journey This week on #BreakingGround host Carol Tallon chats to Tom and Ana Woods, self builders in Mayo who – following a fruitless property search in and around Dublin – choose to purchase a site with a partially constructed building and are now in the process of turning it into their dream home. They are using direct labour hands – mainly their own, relying heavily on Tom’s dad (warning: self builders listening in will want to borrow Tom’s dad!). They join to discuss why they decided on the journey of self building, issues they ran into turn the pandemic and how they managed escalating construction costs.
