The 2023 National Property Awards were held on March 9, 2023, at the InterContinental Hotel in Dublin 4 and Property District was proud to sponsor the ‘Proptech of the Year’ Award for another year in support of our work through https://prop-tech.ie/.
The event, which celebrated the achievements of the residential and commercial property sectors, attracted over 400 guests. Hosted by broadcaster Ivan Yates, the awards recognised and celebrated organisations and individuals that have made a real impact on the industry, across 13 different award categories including Best ESG/Sustainability Initiative, Building Contractor, Estate Agency of the Year, Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative, Proptech Award and Developer of the Year.
Judges
A panel of industry experts, including John Doddy, partner and head of debt and capital advisory, Deloitte Ireland; Tina-Marie O’Neill, editor, Property Plus, Business Post; our own Carol Tallon, chief executive, Property District, Conor O’Connell, director of housing, Construction Industry Federation of Ireland, and Mary Conway, chairperson, Irish Property Owners Association, judged the awards.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Congratulations to all the winners and in particular Dr William Nowlan, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Property Awards. Certainly, Dr. Bill Nowlan is an exceptional figure in the Irish property industry, and his Lifetime Achievement Award is well-deserved recognition for his immense contributions to the sector. Throughout his career, he has been a visionary and a down-to-earth, straight-talking solutions man, always looking for innovative ways to solve complex problems in the industry.
Dr. Nowlan’s role in introducing real estate investment trusts (REITs) to Ireland has had a significant impact on the modern Dublin city skyline, and this is just one example of his ability to identify and implement innovative solutions in the industry. His extensive research on social and affordable housing, which earned him a PhD from the University of Ulster, demonstrates his deep commitment to finding solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in the Irish housing sector.
Beyond his accomplishments, Dr. Nowlan is also widely respected for his approachable demeanor and willingness to collaborate with others in the industry. His focus on sustainable and long-term solutions to housing challenges is a testament to his dedication to the Irish community and his desire to create a better future for all.
This Lifetime Achievement Award is a well-deserved recognition of his immense contributions to the Irish property industry, and his legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire innovation and progress in the sector for many years to come.
