International boutique hotel group to open first property in Dublin

Historic Ormond Hotel to re-open after 10 years creating 100 jobs.

 Monteco Holdings have selected Dublin for their inaugural launch of a new global design-led boutique hotel brand and appointed James Beard award-winning New York interior design team, Avroko to lead the project.

The as-of-yet undisclosed hotel brand plans to open additional prestigious and modern hotel properties in Australia, Asia and the UK with Dublin’s Ormond Hotel the first property to open under the new brand banner.

The Ormond Hotel, immortalised in James Joyce’s Ulysses, will receive a modern yet sensitive makeover as part of its revival with the announcement of, Avroko to the project.  Avroko who recently designed One Central Park Hotel in Manhattan, The Modern Pantry in London and the iconic Duck Duck Goat restaurant in Chicago will work with Irish Architects HJ Lyons and to complete the revamp which will respect and restore the site incorporating it’s Joycean heritage.

“Our intention is to market Ireland and this hotel heavily to Asian tourists and millennial visitors to Dublin” said CEO Mark Lankester “Travel from Asia has been steadily growing over the past few years and this hotel will help grow these numbers into Dublin for this very significant market” he added.

Works to re-develop the iconic Ormond hotel in Dublin are due to start shortly and the hotel will create in the region of 100 new jobs in Dublin 1.

The hotel is slated to open its doors to the public in 2019.
